Terms of Service

Last updated: 6 October 2026

These are the rules for using Knock, a friends-only photo app for iPhone, and this website. Knock is made and run by Marc Overbeck, Basel, Switzerland; "we" below means Marc Overbeck. By creating an account you agree to these terms.

Who can use Knock

How Knock works

Knock is built on one idea: you post because a friend asked.

Your photos and messages

What you post stays yours. You give us only the permission we need to run Knock: to store your photos, messages and reactions and to show them to the friends you chose. We do not use them for anything else, and the permission ends when the content is removed or you delete your account.

You are responsible for what you post. Post only what you are allowed to share, and respect the people in your photos.

Once a friend has received a photo or a message, we cannot recall the copy on their phone, and we cannot prevent screenshots.

What is not allowed

Knock has no tolerance for objectionable content or abusive users. Do not post or send:

And do not:

Reporting, and what we do

To report a photo, a message or a person, write to support@itsknock.com. Reporting from inside the app is not built yet.

We act on every report within 24 hours. Content that breaks these rules is removed, and the person who posted it is removed from Knock.

If you believe something on Knock infringes your copyright or other rights, write to the same address and tell us what it is and where you saw it.

Ending

You can stop using Knock and delete your account whenever you like.

We may suspend or close an account that breaks these terms, or when the law requires it. Where we can reach you, we will tell you why.

No guarantees

Knock is provided as it is. We do our best, but we cannot promise that it will always be available or free of errors, or that nothing will ever be lost.

As far as the law allows, we are not liable for damage that comes from using Knock. This does not limit liability for intent or gross negligence, or any other liability that the law does not allow to be excluded.

Privacy

The Privacy Policy says what Knock stores about you and why.

Changes to these terms

We may change these terms. When we do, we update this page and the date at the top, and we tell you before a change that matters takes effect. If you do not agree, you can delete your account.

Law and courts

Swiss law applies to these terms. Disputes go to the courts of Basel, Switzerland. If the law of the country where you live gives you, as a consumer, rights that cannot be signed away, including the right to go to court there, you keep them.

If one part of these terms turns out not to be valid, the rest still applies.
